Our Story

A family farm in Padstow, Cornwall

The Banbury family has farmed in Cornwall for as long as living memory. In 1947, Great Grandfather Banbury settled in the Treator area of Padstow, and in 1964 Grandfather expanded to Trembleathe Barton, where the farm stands today at just under a thousand acres. The turkeys started in 1965 with Nancy Banbury, Richard’s mother, who was with the farm until the end of 2025.

The farm today

Richard Banbury now runs the farm with his wife Claire and their large family, who are growing up working the land — a principle that goes to the heart of how the Banburys have always done things. Alongside the turkeys, the farm runs beef, sheep, goats, dairy, and chicken, with wheat and oats grown on site to feed the birds. A wind turbine and biomass system keep the farm as self-sufficient as possible.

The dairy

The dairy herd is central to life at Trembleathe Barton. We milk around 220 cows, and as soon as the weather allows, they’re out on the grass — proper Cornish pasture, the way it should be. We raise all our own followers here on the farm, so every animal has been here from the start. Our milk goes to Cornish Dairy Co, and we’re proud to be part of a supply chain that keeps it local and looks after it properly.

Christmas from Cornwall

Our free range Bronze and White Barn turkeys are slow-grown for around six months — twice as long as a commercial bird — dry plucked by hand, and hung for flavour. They arrive at your door fresh, never frozen, with giblets, herbs, cooking instructions, and a pop-up timer.

We also offer a range of accompaniments and festive relishes made with Cornish ingredients — because a great turkey deserves a great table around it.

Come and find us

Farmgate collection is available from Trembleathe Barton right up to Christmas Eve morning. We’d love to see you.
